Welcome
Welcome to www.transformingworship.org.uk – a website of the Liturgical Commission of the Church of England. Transforming Worship is an initiative launched by the Liturgical Commission which we hope will engage the widest possible number of people in the Church of England throughout the next 5-10 years. The phrase ‘Transforming Worship’ is deliberately ambiguous. First of all worship transforms us: that is it helps transfigure our humanity. The practice and experience of prayer and worship fashion our lives anew. This is at the heart of the Christian faith and is perhaps the key distinctive contribution that Christianity offers to our world. If our lives are to be changed effectively then we shall also need to transform the way we worship. So much excellent worship and liturgy already exists. Nevertheless, the liturgical revolution over this past generation has offered abounding resources for all Christian people, within all our churches.
We hope that Transforming Worship will engage parishes, deaneries, dioceses and indeed the Church of England as a whole in this process of transfiguration. It is an initiative of the whole church. It will involve road shows and initially a carnival of different events including support and ideas from a great variety of different groups and agencies. This website will allow all of us to become part of this process of transformation. Our hope is that the exercise will be totally participative and so we are looking for your ideas and your involvement. How can we all transform our worship to change peoples’ lives, so that in the words of St Paul, we begin ‘to live the new creation in Jesus Christ Our Lord?’

WORSHIP CHANGES LIVES
Written on behalf of the Liturgical Commission as part of the Transforming Worship initiative, this beautifully illustrated 48-page book, published in February 2008, has been a source of inspiration to many churches as they hve got to grips with how worship might be a greater force for transformation. Having sold exceptionally well, it is now reprinting, and copies will be available for sale again from June 2009.
