Ecumenical Commemorations

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The most significant ecumenical commemoration is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.  This runs each year from 18 January (The Commemoration of the Confession of Peter) to 25 January (The Festival of the Conversion of Paul).

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the Week of Prayer, which was first celebrated in 1908.Resources for the Week of Prayer, which is observed on its traditional
dates but may also be observed around Pentecost, will shortly be
available online at the website of Churches Together in Britain and
Ireland
 (CTBI).

The WPCU presents an opportunity for local churches to meet, worship and pray together.  As well as the liturgical resources offered by CTBI, the mission themed material in Common Worship: Times and Seasons - Epiphany is particularly helpful for this celebration.
